How the Quest for Autonomy Drives India’s Foreign Policy

Even as India grows unmistakably stronger ties with the United States and its allies, both bilaterally and multilaterally, it continues to vehemently oppose any pressure to pick sides in the emerging geopolitical scenario. 

While India moved closer to the United States and the broader West to counteract China’s rise as a proximate power in Asia, it has also been resolute in its intention to practice strategic autonomy.
