India brings back bodies of 45 workers from Kuwait



  • An Indian Air Force flight has brought back the bodies of 45 workers who were killed in a fire in Kuwait

  • The fire broke out on Wednesday at a residential building in Mangaf city where 176 Indian workers lived.

  • Kuwaiti authorities said 50 people were killed in the fire, including 45 from India and three from the Philippines. Two bodies are yet to be identified.

  • Human rights groups have regularly raised concerns over their living conditions.

China and Philippines face off over South China Sea collision



  • China and the Philippines have sought to blame one another after their boats collided in the disputed South China Sea.


  • CCG said in a statement that a Philippine supply ship was to blame for a slight collision with a Chinese vessel. The Philippines quickly rejected that account, as tension flared 


  • Beijing issued new rules  effective on Saturday, enforcing a 2021 law that China says allows its coastguard to use lethal force against foreign ships in waters that it claims.

North Korean soldiers cross border, South Korea fires warning shots


  • The incident took place  when a group of North Korean soldiers in the central part of the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) crossed the military demarcation line . 

  • “Many casualties are occurring due to several landmine explosions in the frontline area,” the JCS told reporters.

  • The latest incident comes as North Korean leader Kim Jong Un prepares to welcome Russian President Vladimir Putin to Pyongyang

Russia’s Putin to visit North Korea for the first time in 24 years



  • Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to arrive in North Korea later on Tuesday, in his first visit in 24 years, underlining the deepening ties between the two nuclear-armed states.

  • South Korea and the United States discussed the impending visit last week and expressed concerns about the implications for regional security of the two countries’ closer ties.

  • Lankov added that while Russia could be reluctant to share its state-of-the-art military technologies with North Korea, it was eager to get munitions from Pyongyang.

Thailand becomes first Southeast Asian country to approve same-sex marriage



  • Thai Senate passed the marriage equality law in the final reading .

  • Thailand has long been known for its vibrant LGBTQ+ culture and tolerance has now legalised same sex marriages 

  • It has become 3rd country in asia after nepal and taiwan and 1st country in southeast asia to make laws on homosexuality .

U.S., India share unique bond of friendship: White House

  • As the world's two oldest and largest democracies, the United States and India share a unique bond of friendship and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan's visit will further deepen the partnership to create a safer and more prosperous Indo-Pacific, the White House has said.

  • Mr. Sullivan is visiting New Delhi from June 17 to 18, in the first trip to India by a senior Biden administration official after the Modi government came to power for the third term.
